ABOUT JUDY LEVERING
Judy Levering, the first woman to serve as USTA President, was instrumental in creating USTA Serves, the national charitable foundation of the United States Tennis Association. She has served on its board of directors since its inception in 2001. Judy has dedicated her life to strengthening grass roots tennis, and in particular to USTA / NJTL and other USTA organization tennis and education programs that develop the “whole person” by teaching skills that are critical for success in school and in life to those that are most in need.
ABOUT JLLI
The Judy Levering Leadership Initiative (JLLI) was established to honor Judy and support her vital efforts to assist with the startup and efficient operation of new and fledgling NJTL and other USTA tennis and education programs get the resources they need to become strong, effective and self-sustaining.
The following are projects we are funding through JLLI:
- An on-line organizational and program development manual that will provide a roadmap for new and fledgling NJTL and other USTA organizations to start up and operate most efficiently.
- With our partner, the Sequoia Foundation, we’re providing consulting services to assist with capacity-building, board and staff development and other technical assistance.
- A mentoring program with senior leaders from other successful programs to provide networking opportunities, best practices and management advice.
JLLI FUNDING
We set an initial financial goal of $300,000 to fund the first three programs. We are proud to say that with the help of more than 200 very generous donors, we met our initial goal. Next, we plan to raise $10,000 yearly to expand the number of organizations we are able to help.
