The Carol Richardson Kimmelman Fund

Carol dreamed of creating a tennis and education community center in an underserved neighborhood in Los Angeles. Today, her dream is one step closer to becoming reality with a transformational plan to build up to 52 tennis courts, soccer fields, multi-purpose fields, and an academic center that will support children from age five until they are accepted to college-hopefully earning scholarships! The Campus will be built in Carson, a city in southern Los Angeles County neighboring Compton and Harbor City.

The Kimmelman Family Foundation, in partnership with the USTA and the USTA Foundation (collectively the USTA), the TGR Foundation (A Tiger Woods Charity), and AEG and the LA Galaxy are developing the Carol Kimmelman Athletic & Academic Campus. The Campus will also serve as the West Coast hub for USTA's Player Development division and facilities for the USTA Southern California Tennis Association (SCTA). The state-of-the-art, nonprofit tennis facility is being designed to accommodate all levels of tennis instruction and play from beginner "short courts" to professional training, including a fully equipped fitness center. The Campus will provide free, and low cost access to the community, will host college matches, USTA league play, and will be wheelchair accessible. USTAF will spearhead the community engagement program with partners SCTA and TGR Foundation.

The Carol Kimmelman Athletic & Academic Campus will be a bricks-and-mortar legacy to Carol's commitment to help all children, but especially those with the fewest resources, get access to the highest quality teachers, coaches, curriculum, and facilities to put them on a path to college and career success.
