About the USTA Foundation
We're on a mission to transform lives through the power of tennis, education and mentorship.
We transform lives on and off the tennis court.
The USTA Foundation is a 501c(3) charitable organization incorporated in 1994 as the social impact arm of the United States Tennis Association (USTA). The mission of the USTA Foundation is to bring tennis and education together to change lives. The USTA Foundation uses tennis as a vehicle to help youth from under-resourced communities prepare for the challenges of life.
The USTA Foundation’s flagship National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) program delivers year-round free or low-cost tennis instruction, academic support, and college and career pathway programs to positively impact the lives of young people.
Our History
Thirty years ago, the USTA's trailblazing first female president, Judy Levering, and a team of committed and passionate volunteers founded the USTA Foundation with the intention of opening more doors to tennis for young people, so that they could explore opportunities through the sport that they may have never thought possible.
Over the last 30-plus years, the Foundation's reach and impact has only increased exponentially.
We currently serve more than 170,000 young people across the United States by supporting more than 270 local organizations that deliver tennis, education and mentorship programs that get them ready for the challenges and opportunities they'll face throughout life, and offering grants and scholarships that can open doors—and help them become their best selves—beyond the tennis court.

Our Leadership and Staff
The USTA Foundation is made up of a dynamic group of leaders committed to transforming lives, on and off the court.
“I grew up playing tennis in a public facility where my father could keep an eye on us kids, making sure we were safe and stayed out of trouble. That was a great, life-shaping experience for me, an experience I want to give back to a new generation of young people.
"I'm committed to helping make our sport more fun and more accessible to more young people, so that they can enjoy the many benefits, just as I did.
"I am proud to help the USTA Foundation inspire young people to achieve their best in their tennis and education endeavors, and fulfill their dreams both on and off the court."
Chris Evert, Chairperson
