Dear Friend of the USTA Foundation,
Now more than ever, I am committed to the USTA Foundation’s mission of changing the lives of young people by providing tennis and education to students who would otherwise not have access to the sport.
My passion for this impactful work comes from a deep belief in the power of tennis, and its importance to the next generation of youth. My friend and co-founder of the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network, Arthur Ashe, along with co-founders Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder, were driven by fulfilling this mission. The NJTL network has grown from one chapter, to 285 nationwide, providing free or low-cost tennis and education programming to over 165,000 under-resourced youth. The USTA Foundation supports these chapters by providing access to financial grants, scholarship opportunities, curricula, and technical assistance/training.
The learning doesn’t stop when our students are off-court. They learn healthy habits, the importance of setting goals, and they gain social-emotional skills they will carry throughout their lives. Students also receive homework help, targeted educational enrichment, and college prep. The USTA Foundation funds this work to educate the whole child on their pathway to success.
I relate to these students because their stories remind me of my own. I grew up playing on public courts in Florida, and have never forgotten where I came from. This year, ESPN honored me as part of the 2022 Sports Humanitarian Awards for my work with the USTA Foundation. I accepted it on behalf of you—our supporters who make this work possible—and our youth. Thank you for helping to change lives and for serving up dreams!
Your gift helps the USTA Foundation to continue to provide meaningful tennis and academic opportunities for youth. Please join me in changing lives, providing opportunities, and rallying for the future by making a tax-deductible contribution to the USTA Foundation. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Chris Evert
