2019 Opening Night Gala at the US Open

 Presented By

The USTA Foundation (USTAF) raised more than $1.2 million from its 19th annual Opening Night Gala presented by ESPN at the US Open on August 26th. The event celebrated the 50th Anniversary of the National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network by honoring co-founders Arthur Ashe (posthumous), Charlie Pasarell and Sheridan Snyder with the Serving Up Dreams Award. Eleven-time Grand Slam champion and International Tennis Hall of Famer Rod Laver was honored with the Foundation's first ever Trailblazer Award.

Hosted by Alec Baldwin and Katie Couric, the Gala highlighted USTAF's mission to bring tennis and education together to change lives. Since 1969, the NJTL network has grown to nearly 300 chapters nationwide serving approximately 180,000 youth ages 5-18.

Nearly 200 guests and celebrities, including Robin Roberts, Lara Spencer, Mike Tyson, Daymond John, Tiki Barber, Maxwell, Vera Wang, and Mayor David Dinkins among others, gathered in the Arthur Ashe Stadium President's Suite to enjoy dinner, the Opening Night Ceremony and world-class tennis from the best seats in the house - all for a great cause.

Among the items auctioned to raise nearly $135,000 were Wimbledon Finals tickets, a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet country music star Luke Bryan with VIP concert seats, a Disney dream package, a luxury stay in Bermuda, lunch with Alec Baldwin and Katie Couric, meet and greet with Hugh Jackman, hitting session with tennis icon Martina Navratilova and Finals weekend at the US Open in the President's Suite.
