The USTA Foundation’s annual pro-am returned to the US Open after a year’s hiatus in a big way on Sept. 10, raising funds in support of under-resourced youths around the country.
Twenty amateur tennis players had the opportunity to hit with numerous former touring pros including Grand Slam winners Kim Clijsters, Arantxa Sanchez, Tracy Austin, Luke and Murphy Jensen, Vania King, Chanda Rubin and Bob and Mike Bryan, as well as Jimmy Arias, James Blake, Darren Cahill, Jan-Michael Gambill, Brad Gilbert, Geoff Grant, Jesse Levine, Michael Russell and Mary Joe Fernandez, on the courts of the US Open.
Arriving early at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, the group enjoy nearly two hours of play around the grounds before the championship match was played on Court 15.
Following a morning of spirited competition, participants enjoyed the men’s semifinals from Arthur Ashe Stadium suites with tournament hospitality.
In its 18th year, the USTA Foundation’s annual US Open pro-am raised funds in support of Rally for the Future, a three-year fundraising campaign announced by the USTA Foundation earlier this year. For the next three years, Rally for the Future will fund the Foundation’s mission to bring tennis, education and health programming to thousands of young people through hundreds of community-based, grassroots programs across the country, including the National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) network.
