USTA Foundation chairperson Chris Evert joined journalist and longtime friend of tennis Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America" earlier this week to discuss the success of the 'Rally to Rebuild' fundraising campaign since its launch last month.

Conceived with an aim of providing financial support for National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) chapters that have been financially impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, Evert revealed that the campaign has already raised upwards of $3.5 million, with more to come.

The funds will ultimately go towards supporting tennis and education programming that reaches over 160,000 under-resourced youth in 250 diverse communities across the country.

"People are really stepping up, and it just goes along and it parallels the message that we're giving out in today's age about equal opportunity," Evert said.

"I think it's giving these kids an equal opportunity to pursue their dreams."

Evert also discussed how tennis is a "natural" fit for the age of social distancing, and how NJTL chapters will continue to promote local and national health and safety initiatives this summer.
