It’s taken a community effort to support the 'Rally to Rebuild' campaign, the USTA Foundation family is teaming up with Jersey Mike’s Subs to recognize the massive success of the fundraising efforts so far.
The sandwich chain, which boasts nearly 1,800 locations in 48 states and Washington, D.C., will celebrate its $1 million gift in support of National Junior Tennis and Learning (NJTL) chapters affected by the COVID-19 pandemic on Saturday, Sept. 12 at locations across the U.S.
In June, the USTA Foundation launched "Rally to Rebuild" in an effort to curb the financial strain felt by some NJTL chapters as a result of the pandemic. For much of this year, these organizations were forced to cancel or suspend programming, and also were unable to hold traditional fundraising events.
Recognizing the NJTL network's importance in the development of young people, the USTA Foundation pledged to raise $5 million, with a $1 million match by the USTA Foundation board. That goal was exceeded over the course of much of the summer’s campaign, and funds are continuing to be raised through several sponsor activations at this year’s US Open.
