USTA Foundation scholarship recipients meet Billie Jean King at the 2026 US Open
The USTA Foundation announced Jaxon Post (Wichita, Kan.) and Lauren Wimmer (Abingdon, Va.) as the recipients of the national Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarship, with each receiving $15,000. Both students had the opportunity to meet sports and cultural icon Billie Jean King Thursday at the 2026 US Open.
The Novo Nordisk Donnelly Scholarships are awarded to high-achieving student-athletes who play tennis and are living with diabetes. The scholarships are intended to support the student’s cost of tuition, educational materials, and other related expenses at the college or university the student selects.
Jaxon Post is a business major and sophomore at Arizona Christian University, where he plays on the men's tennis team—which achieved a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics ranking of 20 for the 2026 season. Named the 2023 Kansas Emerging Player of the Year, Jaxon was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes during his freshman year of high school.
Lauren Wimmer is a senior and member of the women’s tennis team at Milligan University. Majoring in biology, she is actively involved in campus leadership and volunteer work, and aspires to become a physician assistant following her graduation in December 2026. Wimmer won a singles high school state championship six months after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2021.

This scholarship is named in honor of Tracey Donnelly Maltby and Diane Donnelly Stone, who, along with their father, Bud Donnelly, all played Division I collegiate tennis while living with the challenges of Type 1 diabetes. Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company that has been making innovative medicines to help people with diabetes for nearly a century, is the title sponsor of the award. The scholarship is also supported by Dexcom and Cecelia Health.
