The second-annual 'Raise a Racquet' fundraiser kicked off US Open Fan Week in style for the USTA Foundation.
Co-sponsored by USTAF Advisory Board member Marty Mann and US Open broadcaster ESPN at the Town Tennis Club in Manhattan, the event raised $82,000 in net revenue in support of the organization's mission to bring tennis and education together and change the lives of youth nationwide.
In front of over 125 attendees, a Q&A with featured guests Chris Evert, 18-time Grand Slam champion and Hall of Famer and USTAF Chairperson, and all-time greats Bob and Mike Bryan, hosted by ESPN's Mike Greenberg, kept everyone laughing.
In addition, New York City-based Excellence Team students from the Harlem Junior Tennis and Education Program (HJTEP) and the Bronx-based New York Junior Tennis and Learning (NYJTL) showed off their skills and played exhibition matches, in partnership with co-sponsor SPEAR Physical Therapy.
Following a lively, live auction, which included the opportunity to win a hit with both Evert and the Bryan brothers, the twins announced a $15,000 gift from their namesake Bryan Bros. Foundation to the USTA Foundation.
