The USTA Foundation hosts several special funds envisioned by leaders in tennis.
Frances Tiafoe Fund
Established in 2023, the USTA Foundation's Frances Tiafoe Fund reflects two-time US Open semifinalist Frances Tiafoe's commitment to giving back to the programs that shaped him, and to inspiring the next generation to pursue their dreams through tennis, education and mentorship.
Tiafoe is now known worldwide, but he got his start on a tennis court at age 4 at the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC), an NJTL chapter in College Park, Md.. His father was the head of maintenance there after immigrating from Sierra Leone in 1996.
The USTA Foundation's mission is truly personal for Tiafoe and his family. He is passionate about being a role model and for the Frances Tiafoe Fund to be a force for positive social change through direct funding of individual player grants, college scholarships, and organizational grants.

Mackie McDonald College Fund
Launched in the spring of 2025, the USTA Foundation’s Mackie McDonald College Fund is an initiative that will provide college scholarships to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership, sportsmanship, and passion for the sport of tennis and support pathway programs for younger youth, especially in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mackie leads this charge as the USTA Foundation’s “College Tennis Ambassador," having had a stellar college career before transitioning to pro tennis.
McDonald competed for the UCLA Bruins from 2014-16, earning All-America honors each year. He finished his final season ranked No. 1 in singles and doubles in the ITA collegiate rankings and swept the NCAA singles and doubles titles in 2016, making him the first man in 15 years–and just the fifth since 1974–to accomplish the feat.
