Kings County Tennis League nominated for Laureus Sport for Good Award
Kings County Tennis League were served some exciting news earlier today, when they were announced as a 2026 Laureus Sport for Good Award nominee. Laureus Sport for Good supports over 300 sports-based programs across 40 countries, and each year, the Laureus Sport for Good Award honors one of those programs after careful selection by members of the Laureus World Sports Academy.
Kings County Tennis League is one of the more than 250 community-based programs in the National Junior Tennis & Learning (NJTL) network. In their 15th year of operation, Kings County Tennis League brings tennis to nearly 1,000 young people in Brooklyn, New York, by repurposing existing play spaces within public housing communities to offer free tennis instruction and access to life skills development and community-building opportunities.
The winner of the Laureus Sport for Good Award will be announced at a later date during a gala event held at the Cibeles Palace in Madrid. Other award nominees include Fútbol Mas, a charity founded in 2008 that now supports young people in 11 countries; MindLeaps, which offers a combination of academic tuition and dance classes to boost youth employability and critical cognitive skills; Transformación Social TRASO, a Mexican charity combining twice weekly martial arts classes with group therapy sessions for young children and young adults; A.S.D. Gruppo Sportivo Valanga, a Turin-based charity with the mission of improving the physical and mental well-being of participants through sport; and Rugby for Good, who offer rugby classes in Hong Kong, China, for children with ADHD.
